The Bridge Museum of Urban Art is a structure that provides passage over the Amstel and operates as a place of exhibition of contemporary art.
The main goal is to propose an urban/architectural solution, which is able to “be” a museum while maintaining an efficient flux of traffic.
Urban art, as paintings or graffitis, which are usually encountered under several bridges’ arches, are hence given legitimacy as they become worthy of being exhibited at an upper level.
Having the entrance of the Hermitage Amsterdam at one of its ends, the bridge provokes a contrast between its art (open-aired, contemporary and accessible to all) and the most traditional understanding of a museum as an enclosed space in which people have to pay for to look at art.
